ORDERING PROCESS

1. Get in touch

If your interested in placing an order with us please get in touch via the enquiry form or send us an email. Let us know as many details about your project as possible, even if you haven't decided on them yet - the more you share with us, the more we have to work from. We will get in touch to discuss your requirements and provide you with a quote!

2. Consultation
We will be happy to provide expert advice on all your questions regarding an order! We will be happy to discuss your project via email, Skype or you can make an appointment for a personal consultation in London. For a personal consultation we charge a flat fee of £50 (£75 for bridal appointments), which will be deducted from your total amount should you decide to place an order.

3. Design

After your initial appointment we will supply you with sketches and fabric swatches and a first costing. As soon as the details and pricing of the costume have been agreed, a written contract will be sent to you. A deposit will be required to book your slot, as well as an interim payment at the first fitting. The remaining amount will be paid at or around collection.

4. Making & Fitting

A custom pattern is drafted for you to your specific measurements, and a test garment (a so-called "mockup" or "toile") will be made from it for you to try on.

Due to the nature of our bespoke garments we recommend at least two personal fittings. Fittings usually take place in our West London studio. Fittings in our German studio or on location can be arranged on request (additional fees apply). If a personal fitting is not possible for you we can arrange for the mockup to be shipped to you (fees apply).

5. Creation & Finish

After the mockup stage your bespoke costume will be created in the materials chosen by you. During the creation of your garment we will keep you updated with reports and pictures on a regular basis, so you can share the excitement of seeing your idea come to life! For our bespoke clients a second fitting will be required, before we put on the finishing touches. Finally your costume creation will be packaged with the greatest care and shipped to you.

Authenticity of historical costumes

When ordering a historical costume your individual needs and requirements have to be met and that is why only you, the customer, decide how period-correct your costume shall be. Of course we have to compromise because a 100% correct reproduction is not possible anymore nowadays. For museums, reenactors and other authenticity-aware customers we offer period dressmaking techniques. This means all visible seams will be sewn by hand, eyelets will be hand embroidered and only period correct patterns and materials will be used.
However, we understand that for some customers historical accuracy is not the most important feature of the costume. We will be happy to discuss options to suit your requirements and budget!
