We have a range of costuming classes to offer, both in person and as online courses!

Learn in the relaxed environment of our own London studio, using professional equipment and tools, or join us from anywhere in the world to enjoy an online course in the comfort of your own home!

We are also able to tailor a private class just for you! With over 20 years of industry experience you can be sure to learn highly specialized skills!

All in-person-classes can also be taught online!

All online classes can also be taught in person, or arranged as a private online class for one rather than a group class! Private online classes will be priced at in-person-class rates. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements!

Robe á la Française

Learn to create THE most iconic dress of the 18th century in this 5 week course!

​

You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and each week I will walk you step by step through the process.

You will learn about fabrics and tools needed and all the steps to produce your own Robe a la francaise:

​

- how to choose the right materials

- create a mockup

- cut your fabrics

- put the dress together

- hand sewing techniques

- how to make and arrange trimmings

- different sewing & finishing techniques

18th Century Corsetmaking

Stays are the foundation garment of 18th century fashion.
​

Learn how to make your own 18th century corset (= stays) in this 3 week course!

Perfect for your period costume project or create a stunning cosplay or show piece! The techniques you learn in this class can be easily adapted to your requirements.


You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and each week I will walk you step by step through the process.

You will learn about fabrics and tools needed for corsetmaking and all the steps to produce your own set of stays:

- how to choose the right size

- create a mockup

- make adjustments to the paper pattern

- cut your fabrics

- make up and finish your stays

Beginners Corsetmaking

Learn the basics of classic corset making in a 3 week course!

The techniques you learn in this class can be easily adapted to your requirements.


You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and each week I will walk you step by step through the process.

You will learn about fabrics and tools needed for corsetmaking and all the steps to produce your own corset:

- how to choose the right size

- create a mockup

- make adjustments to the paper pattern

- cut your fabrics

- insert a busk

- make up and finish your corset

- design modifications

- different sewing & finishing techniques

In this 1-day workshop we will be making an 1880s bustle to wear under your Victorian bustle dress!

Live and in real time I will show you all the steps to create your own bustle from scratch!

Ever wanted to make your own bustle gown?

In this 4 week class we will create a classic Victorian cuirass bodice together, which can be adapted to a variety of different dress styles!

Step by step I will walk you through the process and show you everything you need to know about Victorian dressmaking techniques!

In this 1-day workshop we will be making an 1880s style buckram hat frame to wear with your victorian dresses!

Live and in real time I will show you all the steps to create your own hat frame from scratch and cover it with the material of your choice!

Beginners Corsetmaking 1-to-1 Class

Learn the basics of corset making in a private 2day class just for you!
You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and learn how to adapt it to your size. You will learn about fabrics and tools needed for corsetmaking and all the steps to produce a traditional steel boned corset.
Advanced sewing skills are required! You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours in the studio.

Please note: whether or not you finish your corset in class depends on your personal skills and learning speed. We aim for you to leave class with a finished half and enough knowledge to finish the other half at home without help.

The class will be taught on two days from 10.00 am to 3.30pm

The pattern used in this class is "Ladies Victorian Corset" by Laughing Moon Patterns. Please purchase your PDF copy of the pattern straight from the manufacturer.

Please note this class is not for you if you are totally new to sewing, as advanced sewing skills are required!

Beginners Corsetmaking for 2


Learn the basics of corset making in a 2day class and bring a friend!
You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and learn how to adapt it to your size. You will learn about fabrics and tools needed for corsetmaking and all the steps to produce a traditional steel boned corset.
Advanced sewing skills are required! You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours in the studio.

Please note: whether or not you finish your corset in class depends on your personal skills and learning speed. We aim for you to leave class with a finished half and enough knowledge to finish the other half at home without help.


The class will be taught on two days from 10.00 am to 3.30pm, maximum number of students is 2.

Basic Sewing Skills 6 weeks

This course is suitable for complete beginners or those with little experience of making garments. In six weekly 2-hour-lessons you will learn how to sew a basic skirt.Fabrics for your project will be discussed in your first week. Cotton fabrics will be provided for you to practice on.

​

Class contents:

- Learning how to use your sewing machine

- choosing materials

- working from a pattern

- cutting fabric with the grain

- inserting zippers and closures

- various sewing and finishing techniques

​

You will need your own sewing machine to finish assignments at home, but you are welcome to use one of ours in the studio.

Class times are flexible between 10-5pm, please email to discuss!

Evening classes available at additional cost.

 

Cost: £355

 

includes: cotton fabric for making toiles, pattern making paper, drinks

 

You need to supply: fashion fabric, zipper and thread.
