ONLINE COURSE: 18th century ladies jacket

Learn to create this beautiful and versatile 18th century jacket in this 4 week online course!


You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and each week I will walk you step by step through the process.

You will learn about fabrics and tools needed and all the steps to produce your own jacket!

- create a mockup

- cut your fabrics

- assembling the pieces

- hand sewing techniques

- how to make and arrange trimmings

- different sewing & finishing techniques

 

CLASS FORMAT

The class will be taught LIVE in four weekly lessons (=6 hours), where I will demonstrate in real time everything you need to know!

You will receive an assignment at the end of each class to prepare over the week.

You will of course have the opportunity to ask questions during class, which I will answer live, plus each course member gets 30 minutes 1-on-1 support from me in a Skype session!

You will be required to purchase your materials and pattern separately. A complete list of materials will be emailed to you when you book your place.

The pattern used in this class is "Casaquin 1740-1780" by Nehelenia Patterns, available here as a print version and download version.

​

Please note: although the pattern offers both, modern and historical construction techniques, we will be using the modern construction in class. Basic handsewing techniques will be covered, but not discussed in extensive detail.

​

Requirements to take this class: basic sewing skills are required, as well as a complete set of 18th century undergarments (= stays and skirt support of your choice, e.g. pocket hoops, false rump or just petticoats) that you can fit your jacket to.
