ONLINE COURSE: 1880s bustle gown bodice

Learn to create a classic Victorian Cuirass bodice in this 4 week online course!


You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and each week I will walk you step by step through the process.

You will learn about fabrics and tools needed and all the steps to produce your own jacket!

- create a mockup

- cut your fabrics

- assembling the pieces

- hand sewing techniques

- how to make and arrange trimmings

- different sewing & finishing techniques

 

CLASS FORMAT

The class will be taught LIVE in four weekly lessons (=6 hours), where I will demonstrate in real time everything you need to know!

You will receive an assignment at the end of each class to prepare over the week.

You will of course have the opportunity to ask questions during class, which I will answer live, plus each course member gets 30 minutes 1-on-1 support from me in a Skype session!

You will be required to purchase your materials and pattern separately. A complete list of materials will be emailed to you when you book your place.

The pattern used in this class is "1885 Cuirass Bodice" by Truly Victorian, available here as a print version and download version. You will be able to choose if you want to make a day or evening version of the bodice, as both will be covered in class!

Requirements to take this class: basic sewing skills are required, as well as a complete set of 1880s undergarments (= minimum corset and an 1880s bustle of your choice, ideally shift and petticoats too) that you can fit your bodice to.

​
